Hudson River Residence
The Hudson River and surrounding woods are stunning. As these vistas are seen throughout this sophisticated, contempory home, the soaring windows and views are the showstopper. The outdoor sky, river and woods are reflected everywhere in the soothing and natural color palatte and textures. The luxurious materials and custom built furnishings appoint the space with a comfortable elegance that reflects the homeowners style. From the gossemer embroidered drapery, leather, velvet, linen upholstery to the ebonized- rift grain woods, bamboo, limestone & glass, one is enveloped with texture and beauty that you can't help but curiously admire and touch. Custom cantilevered, ebonized wood shelves, hoover over base cabinet with both open book shelves and closed cabinets. The coffee table is wood and fine, colored cast concrete. The large sectional sofa and chairs are filled in premium feather down wrap. Eighteen foot high windows have automated solar shades. Lighting is primarily suspended from ceilings, with a standing paper lamp and Native American pottery accents.
Custom built stainless & cable stair rail. It heads both upstairs and down. This replaced a utilitarian light wood stair rail. Carpeting throughout was existing and could not be replaced so all color schemes had to work with the neutral camel color & pattern.
Soaring windows again command attention, so furniture was arranged to both enjoy the views and listen to music or sit by the fire or watch TV. The existing fireplace has a new stone surround and step installed and the wall was painted by an artist in a dreamy metallic finish in the fabric colors.
Embroidered silk drapery hangs from ceiling mounted hardware to just above the floor. Custom oak server & table are custom sit centered in the room. The upholstered chairs and bench are covered in supple white leather. Silk shades top the silver-leaf lamps and the custom center pendant with crystal drops. Art work is a family portrait.
Glass tile in ocean colors is used to create a spa like feeling. The double marble sinks sit on a limestone counter in a custom bamboo vanity with medicine cabinets above. On the opposite wall, full height bamboo cabinets with hampers and storage was created. A bamboo pocket door separates the spaces with a limestone floor throughout. A large walk in steam shower for two, with bench, glass enclosure and door sits at the far wall. A bamboo makeup table, mirror & toilet complete the suite.
